William "Bob" Robert York
June 15th, 1941 - December 8th, 2015
William Robert (Bob) York, 74, of Charlotte went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Bob was born June 15, 1941 in Knoxville, TN, to the late William and Gladys York. He was also preceded in death by grandmother, DessieMommy; and siblings, Francis, Tommy, Joyce, Jeep and Patsy. Those left to cherish Bob's memory include loving wife of 52 years, Sandra; two sons, Bob York (Anett) and Michael York (Melissa); seven grandchildren, Ashley York, Michael Shackelford, Megan York, Foster York, Morgan Hawkins, Kaitlyn York and Jordan York; siblings, Barbara Koontz, Arland York (Sherry), Jeff York, Todd York (Brenda) and Dean York; Butch Lefler (Kathy) and Joe Godwin; several nieces, nephews and cousins; adopted grandchildren, Joe and Lauren Mozingo; adopted great-grandchildren, Hollis and Harper Mozingo. Bob enjoyed golf and collecting knives. He was a member of Second Baptist Church for more than 20 years. Bob was a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, Charlotte. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Bob was very family oriented and watched and prayed over everyone. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Second Baptist Church, 740 Rankin Ave., Mt. Holly. The service will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bruce Bradley officiating. The viewing will begin at 6:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the church. Bob will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 11, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
