Willie Troy Doran
January 12th, 1949 - March 31st, 2017
Willie Troy Doran, 68 of Hiltons, VA passed away on Friday Morning March 31, 2017 at his home following a declining period of health. Troy was a graduate of Gate City High School in 1969. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Troy retired from the TN Eastman Company after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed farming and especially enjoyed woodcarving. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Faye Doran; a brother, Ryland Doran, and two sisters, Ann Earnst and Audrey Gail Hooven. Willie Troy Doran is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sharon Bartley Doran; his daughter, Amara Morgan; step-sons, Chad Fletcher & wife Darla, Brandon Fletcher & wife Leslie; eight grandchildren, Allyson Poe, Aimee Fletcher, Danielle Fletcher, Gabriel Morgan, Eileen Fletcher, Alysia Fletcher, Shelby Fletcher and Nolan Fletcher; two great grandchildren, Shannon Poe and Rylan Poe; six sisters, Jean Wright, Helen Carter, Barbara Bear, Becky Bailey, Donna Pinson, Jackie Manis; two brothers, Leland Doran, and Conley Doran; along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City from 5 - 7 pm. and friends may call anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Morris Baker and Rev. Ray Amos, officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #3 and #265 on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 12 noon at Hermon United Methodist Cemetery, Gate City with Brian Doran, Dylan Robertson, Kevin Doran, Jerry Doran, Allen Greene and Raymond Ketron, serving as pallbearers. Fred Neeley, Gary Calhoun , Rick Quillen and Melvin Richards will be honorary pallbearers. Those attending the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:50 am. Carter-Trent / Scott County Funeral home, Weber City is serving the Doran family.
