Winford E. Peck
April 19th, 1927 - February 28th, 2015
Mr. Winford E. Peck Sr., 87, of Sprakers, NY, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Harvard, Town of Hancock, NY on April 19, 1927. A son of the late Warren and Hazel Jaycox Peck. He was a graduate of Walton High School in Walton, NY. Mr. Peck was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. After the war he was employed for the GLF Company in Chatham, NY He worked in Chatham NY a few years and later transferred to the Johnstown, NY GLF. In 1959 he moved to Randall, NY and worked on the Persse Brothers Farm. In 1973 the family moved to Sprakers, NY to their own family farm. He married Doris M. (Smith) Peck on July 17, 1954. In addition to his wife of over 60 years survivors include his two sons, Winford E. Peck Jr. of Sprakers, NY and James (Carol) Peck Sr. of Sprakers, NY. One brother, Warren Peck Jr. of Trout Creek, NY. Four sisters, Emma Howland of Lakeside Arizona, Gertrude Loker of Walton, NY, Louise Peck of Walton, NY and Barbara Northrup of Walton, NY. Four cherished grandchildren, Mary Peck, James (Karlene)Peck Jr., Scott and Matthew Peck. One great- grandchild, Hailey Rae Peck. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2015 at 12:00Noon at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Interment will be with full military honors in the spring in Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon prior to the service. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
