Winifred Malecki
November 14th, 1914 - November 1st, 2008
Winifred Malecki, 93, of Trinity Pl, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning November 1, 2008 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 14, 1914 a daughter of Paul and Stella Sroka Gizara. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools. Mrs. Malecki worked for a time at the former Mohawk Carpet Mills and Consolidated Novelty in Amsterdam. She was also a homemaker all of her life. Winifred was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the church Altar Rosary Society. She married Clement Malecki on October 18, 1941, he passed away on January 15, 1992. She is survived by three daughters, Geraldine DeGrazio of East Syracuse, NY, Gloria Meola of Amsterdam and Claudia Politano Dominick of Amsterdam. One brother, Chester Gizara Carol of Amsterdam. Seven Grandchildren, Anthony Meola Jr. Jackie, Geralynn Meola, Nicholas Meola, Gina RendoAaron, Lisa Lopez Alfredo, Donna DeGrazio and Kristen Paskanik Mark. Eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Collin, and Jaiden Paskanik, Marina and Joshua Lopez, Jacob Rendo, Dominick Meola, and Maria Meola. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Gizara of Amsterdam and Jessie Malecki of Schenectady, N.Y. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Winifred was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, John and Henry Gizara. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 10:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00A.M. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Cornell St., Amsterdam with Father David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday morning November 5th, 2008 from 9:00A.M. to 10:30A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility Activities Fund, State Hwy 30 North, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
