Worley Head, 42, of Kingsport, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday afternoon November 6, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett of 1991. He married his High School sweet heart Carrie Grills in 1997. He was a member of Darthula Baptist Church in Hilton, VA. Worley coached football for five years at the Kingsport Boys Club. He was former athletic director at the Kingsport Boys Club and was manager at Game Time Sports prior to his illness that he eventually succumbed too. He was proud to have coached travel baseball for over 15 years. Worley truly was a sports fanatic and especially loved his Vol's, 49ers, and the Braves. He especially loved pushing buttons on politics, sport and especially Peyton Manning : ) He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Minnie Imogene Greer; paternal grandmother, Blanche Shuler; brother in law, Todd Grills; and by his "Mama Grills"; first beloved "baby" Myra. Worley Head is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Carrie Grills Head; his babies, Oscar Brewski and Buttercup; mother, Deborah Greer; father, Jeff Head; papaw, G.C. Greer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Patti Grills; mother-in-law, Kathy Grills; sister-in-law, Amber Bryson; along with a niece, a nephew, several cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday Nov. 10 at Higher Ground Baptist Church or anytime at his residence. A celebration of his life will follow at 8 pm at the church with Rev. Ray Amos, Jr. officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday Nov. 11 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Skylar Manis, Mike Jones, Travis Pierson, Jimmy Hensley, Will Robinette, Cory Martin, Brian Malone and Andy Creech. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Sheffer, Mike Curtis, Todd Miller and Kevin Fults. Please remember Worley's words "smile, make somebody smile today, tell somebody you love them, and say your prayer at night". In lieu of flowers memorial may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Head family.
