Wycliffe "Wyc" Blair Childrey
November 23rd, 1955 - April 18th, 2022
Wycliffe Blair Childrey III, fondly known as Wyc, passed away in the loving arms of his wife Jane on Monday, April 18 at Atrium Health. Wyc loved his family and God above all else and was a man of great faith. He was humble, honest, and had a heart of gold. There wasn’t an architectural or mechanical problem that Wyc didn’t try to solve and his brain enjoyed the constant challenge. Wyc has left his mark on many buildings around the United States but his most important mark is reflected in his four children. He was an active father teaching each of his children how to ride a bike, drive the boat, taking them beach camping, teaching Sunday School, and teaching them how to read. They could count on him to help them build any school project. As a husband, he believed it wasn’t his place to tell his wife what she could and couldn’t do, he supported Jane in everything she wanted to achieve. He loved her deeply. Wyc is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jane, his four children Kathryne (Robert Webster), Lillian, Alexandra, and Ian; his sister Susan; his in-laws Terance and Betty Bott; his sister-in-law Sandy Bott McGarr; his nephews Julien Hitier and Jack McGarr; his nieces Zea and Vivyin McGarr; and his business partner William Robinson. A service will be held in the Chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home (1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203) on May 11, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at Whitehead Manor (5901 Sardis Rd, Charlotte, NC 28270) at 7:30 p.m. If you are unable to join the memorial service in person, please click here to view the livestream link: LIVE STREAM. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
