Wynema "Simpson" Mae Gerba
October 24th, 1927 - December 17th, 2015
Wynema Mae Simpson was born on October 24, 1927 in Lacomb, Oregon to Elsie May Shoote (Howell) and Arthur Clifford Shoote. She lived the first 2 years of her life in South San Francisco, the next 4 years in Lacomb and afterwards in West Linn where she graduated from Sunset Grade School and West Linn High School. At the age of 19, she married Steven Gerba. They later divorced. She worked for Portland Community College for 22 years and was a caregiver during her retirement years. Wynema was an avid reader who kept up on current events, and had extensive knowledge about plants, trees and animals. She believed strongly in animal and environmental conservation. One of her favorite places to shop was Good Season's Market in Sellwood, where she will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a daughter, Denise Grover of Aloha, 2 sons Nicholas of Sandy and Martin of Milwaukie, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed bringing yummy Christmas gifts. Contributions in Wynema's memory can be sent to Oregon Public Broadcasting. The memorial Service will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 822 Washington St., Oregon City, Oregon 97045 on Saturday February 13, 2016 @ 10:00AM. Service Information
