Wynn Lloyd Wright
June 21st, 1954 - January 12th, 2011
Wynn Lloyd Wright Wynn Lloyd Wright, 56, died of cancer January 12, 2011, at home in Olympia, WA. He was born June 21, 1954 in Sydney, MT, to Wanda and Ray Wright. He married Cynthia Morrison in Olympia on October 29, 1994. A 20-year resident of Olympia, Wynn earned two bachelor degrees from The Evergreen State College, one in Teacher Education and the other in English. Since 2005, Wynn had been a history teacher and student advisor at Bethel Online Academy in Spanaway. During the previous eight years, he was a substitute teacher in school districts throughout the South Sound region. As a young adult, Wynn was a professional musician and lead guitarist of considerable skill with various rock and country bands that performed throughout the Pacific Northwest. Wynn had an encyclopedic knowledge of music and American history. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Mariners, Rainiers and Seahawks. He also loved the Three Stooges and professional wrestling. Wynn worked hard and played hard. He was intelligent, patient and forgiving, rarely in a cross mood, and friendly to everyone. He also was a prodigious and shameless punster. He loved kids and animals, and was devoted to his family. He and his beloved dog, Karl, were fixtures in the neighborhood. Wynn is survived by his wife Cynthia (Olympia, WA); stepdaughter Emily Morrison Griffin (Seattle, WA); brothers Tim (Edmonds, WA), Robbie (Mercer Island, WA), Todd (Long Beach, WA); sisters Rae Anne (Carlsbad, CA), Christy Bennett (Portland, OR); mother Wanda (Long Beach, WA); father-in-law and best friend Lou Smith (Shelton, WA); mother-in-law Betty Smith (Shelton, WA); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ray (Ocean Park, WA). Many thanks to Providence Hospice and Group Health for the excellent care and support Wynn received over the last two years. Special thanks to the teachers and staff at Bethel Online Academy and Challenger Secondary School. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Wynn Wright Memorial Scholarship at the Bethel Online Academy in Spanaway, WA.
