Yuriko Hoshino Williams "Lily", passed away on September 3, 2022. She was 91 years old. Yuriko was born in Tokyo, Japan on September 14, 1930. She moved to the United States with her late first husband, James Ervin Jones. Yuriko is preceded in death by her parents Tosaku Hoshino and Tome Takashika; husband Lewis Williams; daughter Lynda S. Anderson; stepchildren Shelia Compo, Anita Deans, and Diane Yon. She is survived by daughter Yuri Jones Kirby (Keith); stepdaughter Darleen WIlliams; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Masako Sato, who is back in Japan. Yuriko is best remembered for her love of sports. She loved baseball, bowling, tennis, and even watching sumo wrestling matches. She is also best remembered for her love of gambling. Her and her daughter spent a lot of time together in the casinos of Cherokee, where Yuriko was always proud of her winnings. Family and friends are welcome to come to the Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2022 for Lily's visitation. A graveside service will follow the visitation on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 3:30 PM at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens which is located at 2603 Two Notch Rd., Columbia, SC, 29204.
