Yvette Marie Semler, 65, of Fairfax, Va passed away with her family at her side on Monday, October 15, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James W. Semler. Yvette was a devoted mother to David Semler (Tracy), Michael Semler (Katie), and beloved sister of Susan Sullivan (Kevin) and Linda Vitale (Joseph). She was a loving grandmother to Claire and Caroline Semler, and aunt to Kimberly and Paul Sullivan. Yvette was the daughter of the late Paul and Odette O’Donnell. She was a real estate agent before making a mid-career decision to go back to school and pursue a nursing degree. She retired last December with 24 years of nursing service, most recently with the Fairfax County School system. Yvette loved being with people and helping others through advice and friendship. She enjoyed book club, lunches and outings to the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap with her friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved going to the beach with her family and cooking pancakes for her granddaughters. A celebration of Yvette’s life will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, VA 20165, starting with visitation at 10:30 am and a memorial service at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mental Health America. (http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/)
