Zane W. Peterson, Sr.

Mr. Zane William Peterson, Sr., age 80, of Gloversville, passed away suddenly, Saturday August 31, 2019 with his loving family at his side at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born August 29, 1939 in Dunkirk, the son of the late William and Pearl Shellgren Peterson. He was a School Teacher for 47 years, teaching at Gloversville Enlarged School District for 41 years and HFM BOCES for 6 years. Zane was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed watching their horse’s race at Saratoga Harness Track. Zane had a love for teaching and influencing many young lives. He was proud of changing their lives for the better and ultimately helping them grow. He enjoyed hearing from former students, who always seemed to have a story to tell about Mr. Peterson. Zane is survived by Diane Johnson Peterson, their two sons; Zane Jr. and spouse Mary Peterson, Chad Peterson, a granddaughter Brooke Peterson, his sister Karen and spouse John Schleiffer. He was predeceased by both of his parents William and Pearl Peterson. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, Friday September 6, 2019 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a Funeral Service will follow at 6:00PM.
