Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Malinda Marshall, also known by most of her friends and family as "Grannie", age 86, life-long resident of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Church Hill Health and Rehab Center. Bea attended East Tennessee State University where she received her Master's Degree in Education. She proudly taught in the Hawkins County School System for 39 years during which time she held multiple positions in various schools throughout the county. Bea had a wonderful memory. She could still recall most of her pupils and she cared about each and every one of them. It made her very proud to know she played an important role in those children receiving their education. She was a proud life-long member of Goshen Valley Church of God where she also served in various positions throughout the church. She was a Sunday School teacher, youth director and an active member of the Women's Ministry. During Bea's leisure time she enjoyed talking about the goodness of the Lord and studying his precious word. She was very fluent in her ability to quote scripture and share the gospel of the Lord with those around her. She was an encouragement to all those who were struggling spiritually often quoting Phillipians 4:13 to those who needed a little bit of hope. She truly loved her grandchildren and was so proud of them. She found so much happiness in watching them excel in life and further more seeing the blessings of having 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Grady Marshall; grandson, Bradley Marshall; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Phipps; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her 2 sons, Jimmy Marshall and wife, Angelina and Billy Marshall; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Marshall and wife, Stephanie L., Angie Arnold and husband, Dale and Travis Marshall of Sevierville; great- grandchildren, Stephanie T. Marshall, Christina and Susie Arnold; great great-grandson, Bentley; several nieces, nephews, special friends and a host of extended family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill or anytime at the residence of Bea. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Rev. Kent Aiken and Pastor Jonathan Lovelace officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:45 pm on Monday, June 21, 2015, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
