Paul P. Smith, 76, of Venice, passed away on March 3rd. He was born in Washington, DC on September 19, 1930. After serving in the Army he went on to graduate from George Washington University. In 1977 he went to work as a Sales Engineer for Bearing Distributors, Inc. in Columbia, SC. He retired in 1995 and worked as a consultant to the company until moving to Venice in 2001. He was previously a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, was a member of the Jacaranda Men’s Club and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Ann; daughter Michele Smith-Wessinger of Columbia; two sons, Mike of Orange Park, FL and Steve of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Pat McArdle of Ocean City, MD, Mary Alice Halley of Easton, MD and Kathleen Franke of St. Michaels, MD; seven grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM on Thursday, March 8th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. Memorial donations may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation 12902 Magnolia Dr. Tampa, FL 33612 or to Catholic Faith Appeal c/o the Catholic Diocese of Venice, Catholic Center P.O.
