Charles Koch of Venice passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19th, 2022, he was born on December 23, 1930, in East Chicago, Indiana. Charles was a proud graduate of the University of Chicago Medical School in 1955. While at the University of Chicago Charles met Betty Low Cary who worked at the school. Charles and Betty were married in 1954. After medical school, Charles served 10 years in the US Public Health Service and then settled in Venice in 1965 where he started his practice. Charles was one of the founders of the L.I.F.E. program, a non-profit youth drug rehabilitation program. He was an avid supporter of Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Friends of the Thai Daughters, and The Boothbay Land Trust. Charles is survived by his sons Rodrick, Carl, and Gregory, daughter Lisa. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren Joseph Duane Florian, Nikki Alexandra Kimbrell, Stephanie Lynn Howell, Jessica Kalen Koch, Peyton Charles Maloney, and Luke Baldwin Maloney as well as 3 great-grandchildren Xander Florian, Sylas Kimbrell, and Hayden Kimbrell.
