October 3rd, 1930 - January 18th, 2023
Carl Edward Cicogna, age 92, known to many as “Mr. Wonderful”, passed away in Venice, FL on January 18, 2023. He was born in in Niles, Ohio on October 3, 1930, to Sam and Florence Cicogna. Carl relocated to Florida in 2015 from Columbus, Ohio where he was a finance professional with Chemical Abstracts Services for many years. Carl was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Order, and an active member of the Guild Athletic Club for many years. Surviving family members include his wife, Nancy Jo Cicogna (McFall) of Venice, FL; brother Robert Cicogna of Shadyside, Ohio; children David Cicogna of Virginia Beach , VA, Cindy (Mark) Koenig of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Amy Cicogna Rose of Nokomis, FL; grandchildren Marie (Nick) Sporich of Wood Ranch, CA, Katie (Chris) Cianfaglione of Sarasota, FL, Daniel Rose of Chicago, IL, and Hannah (Kent) Rose of Nokomis, FL; great granddaughters Phoebe Sporich of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Elia and Camille Cianfaglione of Sarasota, FL and loving nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ida Mae “Skip” Cicogna. Visitation will be at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel on Wednesday, January 25th from 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice at 10 am on Thursday January 26th, followed by a luncheon. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery.
