"Chicopee - Kathleen "Kate" M. (Janes) Seaman, 68, of Prospect St., died on July 23, 2014 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born May 11, 1946 in Canaan, NY, daughter of Francis and Bertha "Honey" (Britigan) Janes. Kate worked as a inspector for Dielectric in Chicopee for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, going to the casino and traveling. Kate was an avid Red Sox fan and loved her cats and dogs. She is survived by her husband Robert J. Seaman of Chicopee, sister Carolyn Duchesneau of Springfield and a brother Greg Janes of Pittsfield. She also leaves nieces and nephew, Rita D'Angelo, Mitzi Gibson, Carole St. Marie and David Duchesneau, as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Bruce Bates. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, PO Box 6307 Springfield, MA 01101.
