Bonnie A. Grenier
August 24th, 1946 - July 22nd, 2010
"Bonnie A. Grenier, RN passed away on July 22, 2010. She was born in Holyoke growing up there and in South Hadley. She graduated from South Hadley High School. Beside her husband Donald LaRiviere, she leaves behind four sisters, Suzanne Graham and her significant other Larry Gill, Patricia Marois, Kathryn Grenier and her significant other Rob Tifanny all of South Hadley, Dorothy Pimpare and her husband Raymond of Chicopee. She also leaves two stepdaughters, Josette Picard and her husband Kevin, Melissa LaRiviere and her husband Duane Sivard. Her grandchildren Rebekah, Nathaniel and Elijah will miss her greatly as well as her nieces, nephews and close friends. Bonnie served her country in the United State Navy during the Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm. She was in the Naval Reserves and retired in 2001 after 20 years, achieving the rank of Chief Hospital Corpsman. She was a member of the Pioneer Valley Waves Unit #81 and a Field Representative for Women in the Military Service for America. She graduated from Western Massachusetts School of Practical Nursing, Greenfield Community College earning an Associate Degree in Nosing and Westfield State College earning her Bachelor�s Degree in Psychology. She was employed by the Sister of Providence Health System for many years and retired in 2006. She also taught at Holyoke Community College in the Certified Nurse�s Aide Program. Bonnie was an Associate of the Sisters of Providence and previously volunteered for the Pioneer Valley USO and Dakin Pioneer Humane Society Adoption Center in Leverett. Visitation will be Sunday July 25th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church with burial and military honors at 2:00 p.m. at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. or meet directly at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Department 560, Washington, DC 20042-0560"
