George Patrick Salem
May 29th, 1944 - December 6th, 2018
George Patrick Salem, age 74, of Charlotte NC was a native and lifelong Charlottean, beloved son of the late Edward Salem and Maggie Joseph Salem went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2018. He is survived by his three loving children George “Patrick” Salem, Harold Bowman Salem, and Maggie Helena Salem Roberts. He is also survived by his two loving granddaughters Gardenia Roberts and Eva McKenzie Salem, and loving ex-wife and dear friend Linda Diane Bowman. He was also survived by many cousins and extended family in Charlotte, including Sylvia Cowart, Bobby Davis, Sharon Salem, and Antoine Bou. George Salem was preceded in death by his brother Edward Joseph Salem and his sister Mary Louise Salem, and a number of beloved pets: Mr. Salem, Little Sam, and Lady Luck. George Salem will be happy to be reunited with all his family and loved ones in heaven whom preceded him in death, as well as his beloved pets and two additional children whom had passed before birth. He will be laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery, which he visited every week to see his family members that were laid to rest there. George Salem was a good-hearted man of deep Catholic faith and strong love of God and family, who preferred to live simply. He was loved by all people who had the privilege of knowing him. George Salem was a proud veteran having served honorably in both the United States Navy and Army. In business, George Salem always valued doing what was right over what would make the most money. George Salem was a very strong and talented man who was competitive and loved being number one (GP the Great). He did a great job as a property investor and had many hobbies which included running, boxing, working out, singing, bee keeping, reading, football, and he was a very enthusiastic fan of the Carolina Panthers. Visitation will be from 9AM to 10AM Tuesday, December 11, 2018 with services to begin at 10 AM at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow at Elmwood City Cemetery, Charlotte, NC
