Channing passed away peacefully in his mothers arms, surrounded by his family. He was born September 27th, 2014 at 6:17am. Channing came into this world as a fighter battling Gastroschisis and never once let it hold him back. He fought that battle with the greatest attitude and spirit. He loved laughing, swimming, playing and living everyday to its fullest. His favorite things to do were traveling with his grandparents, and visiting with his many uncles and aunts. He loved to make people laugh and smile and it was hard not to fall in love with his old soul and quick witted personality. As short as his time was, it was filled with memories that his family and friends will cherish forever. Channing is survived by his mother Charity Hammond, and his dog Camille Hammond. Grandparents Crystal Johnson, Bud and Jennifer Womble, Diana Womble and Kyle Joyce. Great Grandparents Sheila and Richard Hammond, Jerry and Olivia Rowland, Davey Williamson, and Marcus Ward. Uncles Colby Brode, Kelon Womble, Benjamin Ferriss and Carter Johnson. Aunts Mariah Asbill, Morgan Ferriss, Linley Johnson and Megan Ferriss. Great Uncles and Aunts, Derek Clark, Chip Williamson, S.T. Phillps and Chasity Phillips, Bobbie Clark and Felicia Williamson. Great Great Uncle and Aunt, Rex and Kellie Griffin. Cousins: Clarissa,Bernie and Chandra Griffin, Delaney, Brynnan and Kynadie Clark, Lily Bay and Summer Philips, Finn and Sadie McMahon, Kensleigh, Aubree and Carson Asbill. Channing is preceded in death by Ruby Owenby, James and Ola Womble, and Barbara Ward. Online condolences may be written via the Tribute Wall provided

Whittington took the reins of the Crouch Funeral Home. The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
