Cecelia was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Regina Naider on October 23, 1927. She attended high school at South High School in Cleveland. She married Frank Vlchek on June 7, 1948 in Michigan. She worked as a reference librarian at Kirtland Public Library in Kirtland, Ohio for 34 years, and was well known as a fundraiser and supporter of the library for years after she retired. Cecelia loved the outdoors and walked a few miles every morning with her friends for decades. She loved traveling. As her children were growing up, she and her husband, Frank, took them on yearly “family vacations” all over the United States. Later, she enjoyed Caribbean and Hawaiian vacations and gambling junkets with her husband, often acting as co-pilot on his airplane. In her later years she went on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean with her grown children. She loved watching baseball, and never missed a televised game of her beloved Colorado Rockies. And, of course, she doted on her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild until she breathed her last breath. Cecelia is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her brother, James. Cecelia is survived by her daughter, Gayle Vlchek, and sons Douglas Vlchek (Patricia) and Frank Vlchek (Anita), as well as six grandchildren Fred Vlchek, Jessica Floyd, Jason Vlchek (Kate), Heather Hunter (Al), Ty Kotz (Catherine), and Amber Bartley. Ten great- grandchildren also survive: Elizabeth, Steven, Kyle, Aimee, Joshua, Ethan, Marlowe, Maya, Samantha, and Tyler, as well as one great-great grandson, Samuel. Cecelia also leaves behind hundreds of friends in Colorado, Wyoming, Tennessee, and Ohio, as well as thousands who knew her as the “Story-Hour Lady” at the Kirtland Public Library. Everyone who ever met Cecelia, from her childhood until the day she passed to everlasting life, will tell you this was a playful woman who enjoyed every single day, and loved every person (and creature) she encountered. Memorials may be given as donations in her name to the Kirtland Public Library, Kirtland, Ohio. Anyone requesting more information may contact Cecelia’s daughter, Gayle Vlchek via email at [email protected], or either of her sons: Douglas Vlchek via email at [email protected], or Frank Vlchek at [email protected] .
