Lillian J. Strauss Lillian Jacobs Strauss, died on Sunday August 30, 2009 at the age of 100 years old, in Charlotte, NC. She was formerly of Albany, NY and Syracuse, NY. Lillian was the daughter of the late Alexander Jacobs and Theresa Harris Jacobs. Lillian was born in Troy, NY and was the last survivor of nine children. She was a jewelry buyer for over 20 years for Muhlfelder?s Department Store in Albany, NY. Lillian moved to Syracuse, NY in 1977 and became a volunteer with The Manlius Library of Manlius, NY for 20 years. She was a member of Temple Israel in Albany, NY for over 30 years. Lillian enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games, reading and frequent trips to Las Vegas, NV to enjoy the local gaming. Lillian was a very big fan of the New York Mets. Lillian was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband Milton Samuel Strauss. She is survived by her daughter, Helene Strauss Rivlin and her husband, Allen Rivlin of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Teri and her husband, Craig Saurer and Lori Rivlin. She was ?Nana? to Michelle and Hannah Saurer. Lillian is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services and interment were private in New York on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Shiva will be observed beginning at 7 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the home of Helene and Allen Rivlin in Charlotte. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunrise on Providence for their kindness and caring, and also Dr. H. Pham for his expert medical advice and compassion, along with Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and caring attentiveness to Mrs. Strauss.
