Beers and Story - Belchertown
Robert Edward Carliell
January 11th, 1935 - February 9th, 2018
"Ludlow, Robert E. “Bob” Carliell (83) arrived in heaven on the wings of a Harley on February 9, 2018, where he joined the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Charlene (Dias), who passed away on on June 9, 2013. Both were members of the First Congregational Church of North Berwick, ME. Bob was a retired union carpenter of Local Union 108. Bob was a proud lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA), owning his first Indian motorcycle at age 18. Once Bob became a Harley man, he owned and rode Harley's for the duration of his life. Bob enjoyed a lifelong passion for music and was an accomplished and skilled musician who played a variety of musical instruments but enjoyed nothing more than playing his tenor sax for over 50 years. Bob was also an avid and passionate skier for most of his life. He also enjoyed polka dancing, jewelry making, working with leather, canoeing, photography, building and fixing just about everything. He loved to “tinker" and was happiest when his hands were busy. Bob leaves his daughter Donna and son-in-law Nick DeCaro, of Ludlow, who lovingly cared for him since the passing of his wife in 2013. He leaves his son Michael (Jean) of Springfield, daughters, Tina Tesini of South Hadley, and Sandra Carliell. Bob leaves his brother James of Hartford, CT, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee Dias & Karen Hudyka of Ludlow. Besides his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his son Robert, son-in-law Steve Tesini, parents, Leland and Marion Von Ecker-Bursaw. Bob spent his final years laughing, cracking jokes and enjoying listening to music while being surrounded by the love and company of his seven grandchildren. Near and dear to his heart, he leaves his great grandchildren, Quinn, Billie, Mya & Markie, all of whom brought many smiles, laughter and joy to his life and heart, he leaves 14 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that had the honor to know him. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the caring and compassionate staff at Mercy Hospital. A calling hour will be on Saturday, June 9th from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 North Main St.. A prayer service will begin at 10:00 am with burial to follow in St. Aloyisus Cemetery."
