September 5th, 1917 - December 21st, 2014
Leona Atlas Lefkowitz, 97, died peacefully in Charlotte on December 21, 2014. A resident of Sheveport, LA for 57 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rabbi David Lefkowitz, Jr. Long active in Jewish and civic affairs in Shreveport, Leona moved to Charlotte in 1999 to be near family and she enjoyed many good years at the Carriage Club. Survivors include her children David (and Janet) Lefkowitz III of Charlotte, Helen Lefkowitz (and Daniel) Horowitz of Cambridge, MA, Henry Lefkowitz of Columbia, MD, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Service and burial will be private. Contributions in Leona's memory may be made to Hospitality House of Charlotte, 1400 Scott Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.
