James E. Hollins
August 31st, 1945 - January 16th, 2024
Fiskdale- James Edward Hollins, 78, passed away January 16, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1945 in Tutwiler, Mississippi to the late Willie J. Hollins, Sr., and Susianna (Gilliam) Hollins. James earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and made a career working in Engineering and Engineering Management. James had a fond appreciation for art and enjoyed being outdoors. He loved going to the beach and spending his time gardening both flowers and vegetables. In his retirement, James developed a knack for cooking and enjoyed playing solitaire. Most of all, James loved his family. The love of his life for the last six years has been his grandchildren who always kept him young. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Christine Loyd, Roy Dean Hollins, and Verline Hollins. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Cynthia (Wnuk) Hollins; son, James (Jean) Hollins, Jr., of Memphis, TN; daughter, Janice Massey of Memphis, TN; son, DeJuan (Yvonne) Slater of Karben, Germany; son, James Clemente Hollins of Hartford, CT; son, Jeremy (Rebecca) Hollins of Sturbridge, MA; grandchildren, Abigail and Julian Hollins of Sturbridge MA, and Delano Slater and Darius (Dunya) Slater, both of Karben, Germany. He also leaves his great grandchildren, Elias and Nala Slater of Karben, Germany; brother, Archie Hollins of Chicago, IL; brother, Willie (Lynda) Hollins of Portsmouth, VA; brother, Irvin (Helen) Hollins of Atlanta, GA; sister, Earline Cooper of Memphis, TN; brother, Kenneth (Paula) Hollins of Memphis, TN; as well as many extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 3-7pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 for a procession to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 345 Main St. Sturbridge, MA., for James' funeral service at 11am. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church by visiting www.bethlehemsturbridge.org.
