Eleanor Katherine (Bricker) McMillan was born December 24,1925 in Alameda, California to Elijah Ezra and Edith Eleanor (Miller) Bricker. She was the youngest of four children, having three elder brothers, John Freeman, Eugene Clayton and Lyle Elijah. Eleanor grew up and attended Alameda schools graduating Alameda High School in 1943. She attended Lux College in San Francisco until the death of her father and then worked as a book keeper for the Fruitvale Railroad, in Alameda. On November 10, 1951 in Alameda, California Eleanor married Richard Allen McMillan. Becoming the young wife of a Naval Officer. Eleanor and Richard had three children, Robin Daryl McMillan Jackson (William) of Somerville, TN., Kymberly Yvonne McMillan (Randolph Palmer) of Arlington, VA and Leslie Ann McMillan Kline (Jeff) of Pylesville, MD. The family includes six grandchildren, Julie Ann Jackson, William Jackson, Jr., Trystan Sill, Taylor Sill, Peter Kline and Leah Kline and two great-grandchildren, Chandler Jackson and Melanie Jackson. All of whom survive her still. Eleanor, Richard and their young family lived in Pensacola and Miami, Florida, Columbus Ohio, Minneapolis Minnesota, Orange California, Grosse Ile Michigan and Annandale Virginia. Eleanor was a devoted wife and loving mother who was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed the performing arts and was a frequent visitor to D.C.’s art galleries and going to plays, concerts and operas with her friends in her later years.
