Virginia Marie Fortune
October 24th, 2015
Virginia Fortune died at 91 years old on October 24th, 2015, at her home in Arlington, Virginia. She was married to the love of her life Ralph for 67 years before he passed away a year ago. Virginia was a devoted mother to eight children: Ronald James Fortune, Albert Lee Fortune, Donna Jean Cleveland (Fortune), David Franklin Fortune, John Marvin Fortune, Marie Annette Fortune, Jeanie Fortune Barfield, and Joseph Ralph Fortune. Virginia was also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was born to James and Gertrude Conner of Evanston, Illinois and is survived by her sister Dawn Hendricks. Before marrying Ralph, Virginia worked for the Department of Agriculture as a Clerk typist. Virginia’s greatest accomplishment was the time and love she showered on her family. After her children were grown, she spent many hours visiting the sick and up-holding others in prayer. Her life desire was that her family and all those she knew would personally know God. Viewing services will be held Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at 10:00am prior to the funeral service at 11:00am at Cherrydale Baptist Church, 3910 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, VA 22207. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Cherrydale Baptist Church
