Donald R Koestler

Donald R. Koestler of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away on May 18, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of the late Julie Koestler (Schmitt).  He is survived by two sons Thomas (Patricia) & Paul (Carol Ann), grandchildren Emily, PJ, Katie, and TJ and several great grandchildren who will continue to honor Papa’s legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. Mr. Koestler was born in Buffalo, NY to his parents Otto and Marie Koestler. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo then upon graduation worked in the family flower business. He later turned to retail as the managing partner for Pitt Petri in Buffalo for many years. He was an avid fisherman that loved sharing many fish stories with the family and friends. He will truly be missed by all. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 14th from 2-4PM at The Island Funeral Home, 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head Island, SC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Donald’s name to Hospice Care of The Lowcountry.
