Ida Deane Miller

Ida Deane Miller, age 91, died peacefully on Oct.26, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Ellen van Treuren Richards, Henderson, NV. She was the daughter of the late Darrell E. Wright & Estalena E. (Dryman) Wright, of Candler, NC. Deane was preceded in death by her first husband of 20 years, William A.Van Treuren, father of her three children, who died in 1973; and second husband of 30 years, Neal F. Miller, who died in 2009, with whom she helped raise 3 daughters & 1 son. Two brothers also preceded her in death, baby David E.Wright and Willis B.Wright (Bette). She is survived by a brother, Robert E.Wright (Evelyn), of Elkin, NC; daughters Ellen E. van Treuren Richards (George)of Henderson, NV, & Carol M. van Treuren Corey (Douglas) & of Parma, OH; son Philip D. van Treuren (Jeanne) of Los Angeles, CA; as well as many, well-loved grand & great-grandchildren. Deane was a 1952 graduate of Berea College School of Nursing and retired after 40 years as a Registered Nurse in Ohio, eventually returning to the mountains of NC. She and husband Neal were proud, early members of Asheville's First Congregational United Church of Christ. Deane loved gardening, knitting, and reading, even learning, at age 80, how to browse the Internet and use email, Facebook, and E-books. No services are scheduled and her interment was at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Memorial donations can be made to www.uccasheville.org.
