John Joseph O'Keefe III
January 18th, 1938 - February 14th, 2021
John Joseph O’Keefe III, 83 of Long Island, New York, and Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Suntree, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnna, and their children John (Omaha, NE); and Patricia and her husband, Scott Morin (Boston, MA); their grandchildren, Erin O’Keefe (Burlington, VT), Matt Morin (Boston, MA), Julianne Tullis (Omaha, NE), Katie Morin (Johnson, VT), Hannah O’Keefe (Washington, DC), and Luke O’Keefe (ST. Louis, MO). He was preceded in death by granddaughter Ellie Morin. He is also survived by great-grandsons Wesley Broughton and Clifton Tullis and great-granddaughters Cora Tullis and Doris Broughton. He began his career in partnership with his father at O’Keefe Chevrolet/Oldsmobile in Riverhead, NY, but became a real estate investor after his relocation to Florida in 1975. He and his wife were active in ministry for many years. He was an avid hiker with deep affection for the Rocky Mountains. A private funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 22rd, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A memorial and burial service will follow at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Project Ellie, a non-profit that honors granddaughter Ellie’s memory. To donate or for more information see projectellie.org.
