Jan Rose Phelps
August 17th, 1936 - May 2nd, 2024
Jan Rose (Dickerson) Phelps, 87, of the Hiltons Community, went home on Thursday, May 2, 2024 peacefully at her residence. She was a member of Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church and was a retired nurse from Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a loving mother, step-mother, aunt and friend. Although she was not a grandmother, she had a love in her heart for all children. Jan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years in 2015, Sebern Fred Phelps, parents, Fred B. Dickerson and Elizabeth (Freeman) Dickerson; sister, Vivian Farley. She is survived by her children, Dolores Gilliam (Darrell), Donna Riner (David) and Doug Larkins (Jamie); several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. The family would like to thank all the caregivers especially Robin Jessee, who supported Mrs. Phelps through her declining health. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Miller officiating. Everyone planning to attend are asked to meet at 10:50 am at the cemetery for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church, 1100 Nelms LN, Kingsport, TN 37665. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
