Robert Wilton West

Robert Wilton “Bobby” West, 80, went to be with his Lord on December 22, 2023 at his home. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the husband of 32 years to Sheila Hensley West and the son of Rufus Wilton West and Dorothy Ellison West, both deceased. In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by one daughter, Sharon West Service and husband, Les; two sons, Robert Stephen “Steve” West and girlfriend, Rayeann, and James Adam West and wife, Shannon; two step-daughters, Tammy Holder and husband, Dale, and Dawn Bellinger and husband, Kevin; two brothers, Tom West and girlfriend, Mary, and David West and wife, Melissa; two half-sisters, Lisa Alexander, and Debbie Shoemaker; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his loyal canine companion, Bella. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellison. Bobby served in the US Navy from 1961-1966 including service during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the USS Boston, which was the first guided missile cruiser. In addition, he served in the Civil Air Patrol and American Legion. Bobby then attended Piedmont Bible College where he studied Theology, Greek and Evangelism. Later he started and operated West Pest Control for 28 years. Bobby was a member of Life Community Church. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends and always brought a funny story or joke to the occasion. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00PM Sunday, December 31, 2023 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Lambeth Chapel, 300 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27408, with Dr. Lawrence Clapp officiating and Bobby’s brother, Tom West offering the Eulogy. Interment with Navy Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O’Henry Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family will greet friends from 12:00PM to 1:00PM Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
