Stephanie Kay Northen Lyons

Stephanie Kay Northen Lyons, age 61, passed away from Lobular Breast Cancer Sunday evening at Beacon Place with her family by her side. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 pm Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral & Cremation Service with The Rev. Elizabeth "Betty" Northen officiating. Stephanie was born in Hampton, Virginia on November 21, 1954, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Northen, Jr. and Mary Gladys Mason Northen. She graduated from Greensboro College with a degree in music and English and worked as a paralegal. She was a 16 year cancer survivor, an advocate for breast cancer awareness through UNC trial study participation and was very active in the Westover Cancer Support Group. Stephanie had a great love for her family, cats, birds and nature. Survivors are her spouse, Roger Ainsley Lyons of Greensboro; daughter, Alison Lyons Campbell and husband Cody of Savannah, GA; step-sons, James Norman Lyons and wife Lisa of Garner, Justin Sedgley Lyons and wife Kim of Greensboro; sisters, Margarett Northen Kunz and husband Gary of Gaithersburg, MD., Elizabeth "Betty" Mason Northen of Westlake, LA; brother, Thomas J. Northen III and wife Bonnie of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Hailey Campbell, Alexander Lyons, Nathaniel Lyons, Grayson Lyons, Macy Lyons; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 pm Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, 300 W. Wendover Ave. prior to the service.
