Hazel Garner Way

Hazel Garner Way, 90, died December 31, 2014 at The Carriage House in Greensboro. Hazel was born in Guilford County on September 14, 1924 to James Else and Myrtle Brewer Garner. She was a retiree of AT&T. She and her husband, Jack spent most of their retirement years on their farm in Montgomery County. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel. The interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Jackson "Jack" Way; a son, Winford Lee Way; a sister Lillian Foust; brothers, Clyde Garner and Elbert Garner. She is survived by her daughter, Denese (Kent) Byrd; two grandchildren, Christina (Patrick) Scheper of Durham and their daughter, Emily Claire; Greg (Kellie) Smith of Raleigh and their daughter, Kinslie Faye; three step-grandchildren, Mary Katherine (Nick) Baker of Winston-Salem, Caroline (Andrew) Stephens of Hampstead, NC; Allison Byrd of Charlotte; a sister, Hessie Way of Maryland. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 2 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
