Annie Victoria Mae Taylor Horton died peacefully and surrounded by family on January 15, 2013 at the age of 91. She died at the home of her eldest son and daughter-in-law in Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Linden, NJ at a later date Ann (as she was known) was born on March 8, 1921 in Norfolk, VA to the late John Henry Taylor and Annie Priscilla Taylor. Her father owned a tailoring shop and confectionery store, while her mother was a homemaker. After working briefly in New York's garment district, where she developed a love for knitting, Ann became a licensed nurse. She took great pride in her profession and showed loving compassion for all left in her care. On May 6, 1941 Annie Taylor married John Horton, who after more than 60 years of marriage preceded her in death on July 6, 2001. Together they raised three sons Otis, John Jr. and Ronald. From these offspring she was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she adored and loved spending time with. Ann was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 24, 1989 and remained a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Far Rockaway, NY until her death. Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband John Horton; son Ronald Horton; and grandson Kevin Horton. Surviving to cherish her memory are sons Otis (Maggie) Horton and John Horton Jr.; grandchildren Terilynn Horton, Keith Horton, Kenneth Horton, Karl Horton, Kaleem Horton, John Horton Jr., Pamela Horton Edwards, Donna Horton Bowrey and Jemel Horton Spence; great-grandchildren Tieshia Horton Durant, Eric Horton, Christian Horton, Pamela Horton, Karl Horton Jr., Kendall Horton, April Edwards, Arshia Edwards, Ashley Edwards, Arniece Edwards, Briceno Bowrey, Recinto Bowrey; seven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family of the late Annie Horton acknowledges with sincere appreciation the Hospice of Greensboro Nurses, Eagle Physicians and the comforting messages, floral tributes and other expressions of kindness during this time of bereavement.
