Margie Livingston Goodson: loving wife, friend, aunt, sister, mom, and Mamaw. She was full of life, love and laughter - often after one of her infamous pranks. She possessed a talent few have - playing only by ear (she never learned to read a note) she could pick up a tune and harmonize any hymn on the piano. As she would play, the spirit of the Lord could be felt in the room. Margie is survived by her husband, Ray Goodson of 62 years. The two met and became pen pals as Ray fulfilled his commitments to Army training. Soon they were married and on the move as most military families are required to do. Margie raised three children, Connie, Donnie, and Debbie. Once retired, Margie and Ray settled back in Eastover where she enjoyed living next to her parents, and close by to her brothers Bobbie and PeeWee. Later in life, she was blessed with grandchildren, with whom she spent much of her free time, and played an integral role in their upbringing. More recently her role as Mamaw was expanded as her family grew and great grandchildren came along. If you knew Margie, you knew she loved her family, traveling, cooking, canning preserves and jelly, gardening and serving our Lord. We will miss everything about her. In remembrance of her, prepare a meal to share with a neighbor or friend in need - she would often share that when she would make a pot of soup for a sick friend or relative. She would pray as she prepared it so that it would provide whatever type of healing the recipient needed. Plant a lily that will bring someone joy when it blooms, or hang a hummingbird feeder and enjoy the visitors that will return each year. We are comforted to know that Margie is in “a land where milk and honey flow”, reunited with friends and family. Remember - she’ll have a feast prepared when you join her so bring your appetite, you know she didn’t know how to make a small plate.

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
