Elise Riley Leitner
June 18th, 1909 - May 23rd, 2015
Elise Riley Leitner passed away peacefully May 23, 2015 a few weeks' short of her 106th birthday. Born Jessie Elise Riley June 18, 1909 in Cedar Creek community to Joseph Riley and Jessie Lever Riley, Elise was predeceased by her husband, David Hampton Leitner; infant daughter and infant great grandson; sisters, Miriam Leitner, Josephine Patrick, Lottie Leitner; and brothers, Rev. Clyde Riley and Jason Riley. She is survived by her son, Oscar David Leitner (Linda); grandson, Christian David Leitner (Sarah); granddaughter, Katherine Madison; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Rozier (Matthew); step-grandson, Jason Potts (Linda); great-granddaughters, Ashley and Hannah Leitner; step-great granddaughter, Olivia Rozier; step-great grandsons, Alex Potts (Shaaron) and Andrew Rozier; brother, William J. Riley (Dot); and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Although Mrs. Leitner resided most of her life in the Columbia area, she lived the past 15 years at Springfield Place/ JF Hawkins in Newberry, SC. Mrs. Leitner was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and Bethel United Methodist Church until her move to Newberry, SC. Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 4 pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Blythewood, SC.

North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years.
