Purvis Lee Byrd, 55, of Gilbert, SC went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022. Lee was born in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Charles Byrd and Louise Miles. He was a beloved son, brother, husband and father. Lee was an avid outdoorsman and loyal Carolina Gamecock fan. A strong and smart man with a genuine and sentimental heart, who loved being out on the water, listening to an array of music, and being surrounded by his cherished family and friends. Lee brought light and life wherever he went and always knew what to say to make someone smile. He was energetic, goofy, and a hard worker, he spent many years perfecting his craft, and used his skills to create many beautiful works of art. Known by his family as “Peanut,” and friends as “Byrd Man,” Lee was loved by the people in his life, and he left an impact on everyone he met. Lee is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Byrd of Gilbert; daughters, Savannah (Josiah) Stacey of Chapin and Victoria (Chandler) Byrd of Waynesboro; stepchildren, Heath Strickland of Charleston and Erin Strickland of Columbia; two granddaughters due to arrive in March of 2023; siblings; Audrey (Brad) Lilley of Fayetteville, Bo Byrd of Hartsville, and Chuck (Cathy) of Florence, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lee is also survived by his dog, Ozzy “Little Man”, whom he was never without. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mildred Rachel Tanner and Judy Byrd Bird; brother, Steven E. Byrd; special cousin, “CUZ” Carol Anne Brumbles El-Mahdy;and niece, Kaylee Sophia El-Mahdy “Sophie”. A Memorial Service for Lee Byrd will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Red Bank Baptist Church, 1357 South Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29703.
