Anita Marie Carter
July 27th, 1949 - February 8th, 2021
Anita Marie Carter, 71, a sweet and compassionate woman, passed away on February 8, 2021. She was born to Captain Auburn Hobson Carter, Sr. and Anita Moore Carter of Cayce, South Carolina. A 1967 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, Anita was employed by BellSouth of Columbia, South Carolina; and retired after 35 years of service. She was a member of the AT&T Pioneers Club. She loved fashion, and also enjoyed interior design. Anita had many happy, long-lived pets, and was once told by a veterinarian, if she were a cat, she would want to be in Anita's household. She is survived by three brothers, Gene W. Carter (Kathy) of Crestview Florida, Paul Q. Carter (Pat) of West Columbia, South Carolina, Barry B. Carter (Louise) of Lexington South Carolina; one sister, Cheryl Carter Hunter of Milton, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her parents and two of her brothers, Auburn H. Carter, Jr. (Esther), and Jan S. Carter (Jennifer), both of West Columbia. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Lexington Medical Center Extended Care, Lexington Medical Center, and Agape Hospice House of Lexington for the care she received in each of those facilities. A private interment will be held at Mount Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Circle, #100, Columbia, SC 29210. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
