Anna C. Wesley

Sunrise July 3, 1950; Sunset May 12, 2024

Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, Friend

Anna C. Wesley, maiden name Anna C. Holloway, 73, died peacefully at her home in Satellite Beach, FL on Mother’s Day morning, Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Anna was born July 3, 1950, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Gus and Anna (Singleton) Holloway. Anna would often recount the fun she had and her love for growing up in Ft. Lauderdale and Southern Florida with her older sister Sharon, younger brother Jack (deceased), her niece Janet, nephew Michael (deceased), her extended family and her numerous friends.

Anna attended Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, but in 1968 she graduated from Stranahan High School in Ft. Lauderdale before briefly moving to Washington DC where she worked as a phone operator. After leaving DC, Anna attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL where she majored in English and met among numerous friends, her handsome future husband to be, James Wesley. It was in the early 70s when the two started dating while both attending FAMU. Then James moved out to Los Angeles, CA and Anna decided to join him. They happily married on November 12, 1972, and Anna Holloway became Anna Wesley. The two established a home life in LA. In 1974, she and James were blessed to have a daughter, Anja. About seven years later, after the move from their apartment on Gramercy Pl. to their new home in West Covina, they were blessed with a son, Justin. Anna and James were each other’s lifelong companions and friends of 55 years till her unexpectedly timed transition.

Anna’s life was so fulfilling, with so many twists and turns, trying to summarize everything she experienced and embodied during her remarkable life would challenge even the most skilled biographer. She was a wonderful loving wife, an amazing mother, a doting grandmother, a sister, an auntie, and a friend among other joyful monikers. Included in Anna’s many accolades and achievements, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles in 1973 and her certification in attorney assistant training in corporations/litigation in 1978 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Anna was also an American Airlines ticket agent, a dispatcher with the City of West Covina, a substitute teacher in the West Covina school district, and even an entrepreneur when she and James opened Amar Travel & Tours travel agency. Anna was a member of various organizations including the West Covina Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., a lifetime member of the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, a certified rape crisis volunteer with the Sexual Assault Victim Services of Brevard County, Brevard County Project Relief, and Bible Study Fellowship just to name a few. She was so involved with BSF, she became a BSF teacher while living overseas in Puerto Rico and when her family lived in Ghana.

Saying Anna Wesley was larger than life is an understatement. She was a shining light full of wisdom, spunk, humor, charisma, wit, laughs and love from the heart and soul. That heart and soul loved the Lord beyond measure and her love and devotion to Him spilled over to everyone that was near and dear to her. She was a member of Trinity Wellsprings Church in Satellite Beach, FL. Reading her bible, her “Our Daily Bread” meditation, and her Bible Study Fellowship study notes were just a few of the ways she maintained her relationship with her Lord and Savior on a regular basis.

No matter where she was or traveled... Ghana, South Africa, Puerto Rico, The UK, France, New York, or Los Angeles, Anna’s lifelong commitment to God, her family, and her many, many friends will be enormously cherished into perpetuity.
