Carol Jack Beard

Carol Jack Beard, 92, of Lewellen, NE passed away on May 22, 2019 in Greeley, CO. He was born on February 26, 1927 in Lewellen to Clarence and Velma (Magnuson) Beard. The family moved to Kearney, NE where he graduated high school and then to Chicago, IL before returning to Kearney. Jack enlisted in the US Navy after high school, serving during the end of World War II. In June 1952, he married Mary Lou Harney in Ogallala, NE. They made their home in Lewellen where he started in banking in 1954, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and his Westie dogs and was a past member of the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his children; DeAnn Beard of Greeley, Jack (Betty) Beard of Lewellen and Laura (Doug Hickey) Beard of Denver; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Beard; daughter, Nancy Beard and siblings; Josephine Spicer, Bill Beard, Jeannie Sands, Marian Fox, Delores Harrington and Ron Beard. Private family services were held in Lewellen. Memorial gifts may be made to the "Volunteers of America” for the Lewellen branch in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
