Frank V. Greco, 92, formerly of Tremont Ave. passed away peacefully Sunday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson RHCF. Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 11, 1922, the son of the late Antonio and Carolina Cheritano Greco, he lived in Amsterdam his entire life. Frank attended Guy Park Avenue School and graduated from Wilbur Lunch High School. He proudly served in the US Army Company 55th Armored Infantry Reg. for two years, and was given an honorable discharge. He was then employed by the Navy Depot as a heavy equipment operator. From there he owned the Market Hill Service Station for many years until he became co-owner of the GO Oil Co., retiring in 1987. Frank worked hard all his life. In later years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, casinos and playing cards. He had the opportunity to travel cross country and took great pride in his vegetable garden. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters who he cherished dearly. He was a parishioner of the former St. Michael the Archangel RC Church, and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the Columbian Club. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wilkinson Facility for the tender loving care given to their father. On January 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to the former Barbara D. Myers. She passed away September 25, 2005. Frank leaves his two daughters Jacquelyn Greco and Carolyn (Michael) DelSanto all of Amsterdam; granddaughters Kristen and Jennifer DelSanto; brother V. Peter Greco; sister Theresa (Joseph) Marnell; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by brothers Aniello and Vito Greco, and sisters Sophie Surento, Concetta Messineo, Angelina and Francesca Greco. Services are Wednesday at 8:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will follow with military honors at St. Michael's Cemetery. At Frank's request, there are no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Montgomery Co. Office for Aging, 123 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam 12010. Please visit his family's online guestbook at www.brbsfuneral.com.
