David L. Hine
February 19th, 1957 - September 19th, 2012
Mr. David L. Hine, 55, of Mayfield, passed away September 19, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born February 19, 1957 in Gloversville, son of Louis Hine and the late June Stanyon Hine. Mr. Hine graduated Gloversville High School and attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. A proud veteran, David served in the Army from 1975-1978 in the aviation field. Early in life, he worked at Curtin-Hebert and at Anderson Instrument in Glen where he was a troubleshooter. He also worked as a contracting consultant for Home Depot. More recently, David was self-employed for many years in real estate and property management, as well as his cleaning and restoration business, Finishing Touches of Mayfield. David was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gloversville and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He also enjoyed fishing and a general "hands on" approach to all his activities. He especially enjoyed traveling in his motor coach, and RVing with friends. David is survived by his wife, Darla Gallup Hine of Mayfield, whom he married May 3, 1997. He is also survived by his father and step-mother Louis and Janis Hine of N. Carolina, step-daughter Katie A. Christman of Mayfield, step-son Chad M. Christman of Mayfield, step-brother Paul Hine of Baltimore, MD, half-brother Eric Hine of Lancaster PA., step-sisters Kim Sprager of Salisbury, N. Carolina, and Mary Ellen Castrop of St. Louis, Missouri. David also leaves nieces , nephews and his devoted St. Bernard, Manny. A memorial visitation and service will be held 3 pm Sunday September 23, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 12 James St. Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3 pm at the church, prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborn Rd. Loudonville, N.Y.12211, or to the DAV, P.O. Box 3528, Schenectady, N.Y. 12303. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
