Paul R. Burgess

Mr. Paul R. Burgess, age 57, of Caroga Lake, NY, died Sunday evening, September 9, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. He had been injured earlier that day in a motorcycle accident in Saratoga County. He was born December 20, 1954 in Gloversville, the son of Lloyd and Beatrice LaGrange Burgess. He was employed by the Fulton County Sheriff's Dept. for 25 years, retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant. Paul was a member of Johnstown Moose Lodge #1185, the Bleecker Fish and Game Club and was a volunteer for the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a lover of life, especially his family and friends. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling in the motor home, fishing, hunting, boating, woodworking and Disney World. He was quick with his wit and had a fantastic sense of humor. He always made people smile and laugh and was always there to help when needed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Paul's loving family includes: his wife of nearly 30 years, Sarah M. Carbonelli Burgess of Caroga Lake; three children: Teri Hinkle of Valatie, Michael Denmark Kerry of Gloversville and Jodi Knapik Kyle of Mayfield; 6 grandchildren: Shannon Hinkle, Emily Denmark, Tyler Bown, Ryan Hinkle, Gavin Bown and Riley Knapik; his faithful pet yellow labs: Ruger and Wesson; two sisters: Nancy Ackernecht and Sharon Wilson Ed and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
