Angel L. Rivera

Angel L. Rivera, 30 years old, of Elizabeth St., Amsterdam entered into eternal life after a long courageous battle with his health on Wednesday morning January 14th, 2009 surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 22, 1978, he was a son of Angel M. Rivera of Ponce Puerto Rico and Mayra M. Rios of Amsterdam, NY. Angel came from Puerto Rico in 1983 with his family and settled in Amsterdam. He attended local schools. He always enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters and the gang at High Rollers in Amsterdam. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Angel was very close to his Mom, Grandma Aida, his sister Ninja Sagarese, and his friend Tammy Merendo. Angel loved to dance and be outdoors. He loved to shop and spoil his siblings. He loved to travel and visit new places an was always up for a new adventure. Angel is survived by his beloved Mother Mayra M. Rios. His father, Angel M. Rivera of Puerto Rico. His beloved sisters Ninja (Joseph) Sagarese of Amsterdam, Lisandra Rivera, Angelica Rivera both of Puerto Rico. His beloved brothers, Manuel (Deanna) Rios, Francisco Rios, and Wilbur McDonald all of Amsterdam. Beloved brothers, Angel Javier, Angel Miguel and Michael Rivera all of Puerto Rico. His maternal grandmother Aida L. Correa of Amsterdam, grandfather Roy Soto of Puerto Rico and Vidal Quinones. Beloved nieces, Italia Sagarese, Janelis Rios, Kyle Lynn, Natalie Rios, Honest Rios, Ava Rios. Nephews, Anthony Sagarese and Nicholas Rios all of Amsterdam. Beloved Aunts, Maria Angie Ortiz of New York, Estrella Santos Ortiz of Orlando, FL. Uncles, William Willie Cruz of Amsterdam, Francisco (Lourdes) Cruz of Virgina, Ronald (Nikki) Vazquez of Maryland. Beloved cousins, Vanessa Alvarado, Niurka Ferdinand Cruz, Francisco Jose, Jose Alberto Cruz, Lourdes Marrero, Wilfredo Feliciano, Willie Feliciano, Wilfredo Rosado.Angel will be remembered by sister like friend Myra Santiago. His beloved close friend Jay Correll, Edwin Rivera and longtime friend Jeffrey Archibald. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers Angela Gonzalez, Maria Rivera and his companion Jason Gavin. Angel will be missed by all who knew him. He had a fun nature and a contagious laugh. The kind of person anyone would have liked to meet. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 17th, 2009 at 2:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00P.M. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to an organization of one's choice.
