Vincent J. ?Poppy? Fusco, Sr., 80, of Northern Blvd. Hagaman, NY passed away Saturday morning October 20, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Hagaman, NY on December 27, 1926 a son of Frank and Mary Yevoli Fusco. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam schools. Mr. Fusco worked for over 20 years at the Scotia Army Depot. He later went to work for G.E. for over 23 ½ years in Schenectady before retiring in 1986. Vincent was always around helping out at the family business, Cronies Restaurant in Hagaman. He baked homemade breads, made rice pudding , and his famous raisin bread. Being with and around his family was truly his love in life. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He truly loved watching his grandson Michael race his DIRT Modified stock car #33F at the Fonda speedway, he would never miss a race. Vincent was an avid New York Yankees Fan, a Jeff Gordon #24 racing fan and enjoyed gardening, boating and baking bread. He was a bocce player on Amsterdam?s south side and was at one time an avid bowler. He was a communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman and a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors. Vincent married his beloved wife Elvira ?Vera? Tambucci Fusco on December 2, 1951, she passed away on January 12, 2006. Survivor?s include a dear son, Vincent J. Fusco Jr. and his wife Deborah of Broadalbin, NY. Two loving daughters, JoAnn Ryczek and her husband Daniel of Hagaman, NY and Mary Beth Rockefeller and her husband Richard of Gloversville, NY. One brother, Frank Fusco Angela of Broadalbin, NY. One sister, Norma Mancini of Amsterdam. A sister-in-law, Geraldine ?Jill? Fisel Harold of Florida. Four beloved grandsons, Jason Ryczek and his wife Jill, Michael Fusco, Timothy Ryczek his wife Heather, Joshua Ryczek, and a loving granddaughter, Kelly Fusco. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Vincent was predeceased by his brother Andrew Fusco and a sister-in-law Ann Fusco along with a brother-in-law Larry Mancini. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 23, 2007 at 9:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30A.M. at St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church, North Pawling St., Hagaman with Father Ronald Matulewicz as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday This evening October 22, 2007 from 5:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Kidney Dialysis Center, Amsterdam Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010
