Edna Mae Smith
August 10th, 1942 - June 16th, 2007
Ms. Edna Mae Smith, 64, of Gloversville, died Saturday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken. Ms. Smith was born August 10, 1942 in Gloversville, daughter of the late Willard E. and Mary Greenfield Smith. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and also attended college two years. Edna was employed by Interim Health Care of Albany as a home health aide for many years. Earlier in life, Edna was an avid swimmer and loved to dance. She also taught ballet for a time. Her memberships include the Gloversville Moose Club and auxiliary member of the Civil War Re-Enactment, which she enjoyed so much. Edna also loved to travel. Despite raising six children as a single parent and working more than one job, Edna was always devoted to her children and grandchildren and made family first. She is survived by her children; Stanley Debbie Nourse of Gloversville, Michael Nourse of Gloversville, Rick Connie Nourse of Shaffer, CA, Laurie Jarrett of Gloversville, Terri Michael Chichester of Staley, NC, and Heather Smith of Broadalbin. She is also survived by a brother Willard Rose Smith of Oppenheim, two sisters; Ellen Dorman of Gloversville and Marion Bono of Northville, twenty grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Memorial visitation for fellowship and sharing will be held Wednesday from 3-5 pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Cremation took place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Contributions in her memory may be made to her family.
