Irene T. Grisel
November 13th, 1919 - December 19th, 2005
Mrs. Irene T. Grisel, 86, formerly of Barber Street, Fonda, and a resident of Wells House, passed away Monday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family by her side. Born on November 13, 1919 in Holyoke, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Demetria Woutis Angelocopolous. She moved to the area over 60 years ago with her husband. She was a former member of the Glen- Mohawk Senior Citizens and the Fonda- Fultonville Central School Booster Club. She was of the Methodist Faith. Mrs. Grisel was an avid reader and collector of porcelain dolls; she enjoyed feeding birds and loved playing bingo. She loved her family dearly, but adored all of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She married Ralph S. Grisel on March 13, 1945. That union lasted 34 years until his death on January 14, 1979. Mrs. Grisel was also predeceased by five sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Wright and her husband George of McColl, South Carolina, Janice Banta and her husband Bruce of Fonda, Penny Pollock and her husband Ronald of Fonda; one son, Brian Grisel and his wife Debra of Fonda; two sisters, Rita Poppas of Waterford, Connecticut and Florence Tracy of Granby, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren, Kathy McLuckie Craig, Dana Monk Steve, Jamie McRedmond Mike, Keith Banta, Lindsay Pollock Jesse, Nathan Banta, Tanisha Grisel, Tristan Grisel; three great grandchildren, William and Alec McLuckie and her ?cute little fella? and highlight of her year, Braydon Nicholas Monk, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:30 PM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, with the Deacon Richard Solar of St. Anthony?s Roman Catholic Church officiating. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 1:30 until 2:30. Interment will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam or to the Montgomery County SPCA, P.O. Box 484, Amsterdam.
