Durward W. Dostie

Durward W. Dostie, 92, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday morning, June 27, 2016, at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility, after being a resident there for the past 2 years. Born May 18, 1924 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late William P. and Mabel I. Mullet Dostie. He lived most of his life in Amsterdam and was a Wilbur H. Lynch High School graduate. Durward was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal and American Theater Medal. Durward was a Rifle Marksman and Modern Criminal Investigator in Guam. Survivors include a son, William P. Dostie (Barbara); sister, Fern Marie Steiger; granddaughters, Elyse and Brandi; grandsons, Brandon and Ben. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Durward will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. The family will receive realitives and friends 1 hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors.
