Mrs. Aurea E. Torres, 80, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019 at St Mary's hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Aurea was born in Puerto Rico on October 4, 1939 to Santo Torres and Aurora Rivera. She worked for Falco in New Jersey as a seamstress for twenty years. She worked as a seamstress for a total of 35 years throughout her life. Aurea was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother during her lifetime. She leaves behind her loving family, including her daughter; Mayra Leon, her grandchildren; Yomayra Santos who she raised since she was born; Rosanna, Thalia, and Destiny Leon, Reynaldo Leon Jr., Jessica, Daisy, Miguel Jr., and Gabriel Torres; great grandchildren, Emmanuel, Xavier, Evangeline, Emmalina, Mailani, and Doniele, Lilia, Jonas, Titus, Lionel, Ezra, Caleb, and Karina, her siblings; Angela, Mindy, Samuel, and Hector Torres, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Aurea is predeceased by her parents; Santo Torres, and Aurora Rivera, her children; Lillian and Jose oquendo, and her siblings, Louisa, Haydee, and Aida Torres. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 from 10-11 am at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
