William P. Bartlett, Sr.

William “Bill” P. Bartlett, Sr., 79, of Amsterdam, NY passed away suddenly on September 26, 2023. Born in Albany, NY he was the son of the late Raymond and Catherine Smeltz Bartlett. Bill worked as a pressman for the Amsterdam Recorder and later Enterprise Car Rental until his retirement. On June 8, 1969 he was united in marriage to Irene Wolan Bartlett. Together for 54 years, they loved each other unconditionally. They both were devout and active members of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church and both served on the Lazarus Committee, helping grieving families. Bill enjoyed camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Irene; one son, William P. Bartlett, Jr. and his wife Mary; and his beloved granddaughter Kaitlyn; and many dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. All are invited to attend. Private burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50-52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY or The Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
